Add a link in a WordPress post or page

In this help article, we explore how to add a web link or email link to content in your WordPress post or page.

To add a link to a web link (hyperlink or URL)

1. Open the page or post where you want to add a link.  To add a URL link, first highlight the text to be linked, then click on the chain link icon in the formatting bar. A new option box will pop up.

2. The options are straightforward: you can either write your own URL link (perhaps copied from the actual website page you want to link to) or you can select an internal link to use (an existing page or post).

3. It is also worth mentioning that if you want the link to open in a new browser window when clicked, make sure you tick that option box. This is useful if you are linking externally, it means that when the link is clicked – it will open in the browsers new window or tab and your website won’t disappear.

4. To “un-link” something, simply click on the “break link” icon.
